Full form of ANM Nursing Courses is Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery. It  is a two-year diploma course in the field of Nursing. The two-year diploma course includes six months of obligatory internship. ANM courses is the most upfront diploma course which can be chosen as a first step towards making aoccupation in the Nursing field. Eligibility Criteria For ANM Nursing Courses :

  • Candidate’sage should be minimum of17 years .
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not be more than 35 years and so.
  • The candidate should have passed class 12 examination with science,  Arts or Commerce stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Economics, Psychology, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science,Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy, English Core/English Elective , Science or Health care Science – Vocational ) subjects from a standardboard.
  • The candidate have to provide a certificate declaring he/ she is medically fit and healthy.
  • Candidates who should have pass class 12thfrom Science, Arts or Commerce stream conducted by the National Institute of Open School are also eligible.

ANM Nursing Courses Admissions Process 

Candidates are admitted to the ANM course based on their performance on the college admission exams. Many universities provide direct admission based on a student’s intermediate grades.In India, the average ANM diploma course fee ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,000 / annumbased on the universities/colleges’ standards which is vary from place to place.

Admissions through Direct Entry:

In country like India, bulk of universities use the Direct Admission procedure for the ANM diploma course based on their performance in the Intermediate(12th class) exams. Colleges will announce the cut-off scores when the board results are released. If thecandidates results are higher than or equal to the cut-off levelsthen they arecapable for admission to the targeted college.

Admissions based on merit:

The entrance of a candidate io the ANM programme is also based on the results of an entrance exam. Candidates are chosen for this course based on their performance in an institute’s admission/entranceexam.

ANM Nursing Courses : Skills Required

After having the ANM diploma certificate, the graduates are registered as ANM and chosen as a Nurse. The Nursing profession involves dealing with patients and supports doctors in providing care to the patients. While dealing with the different types of patients from calm and patient to naughty and disturbing, the Nurse attending them should have enough endurance to show empathy to every type of patients. Above and beyond this, the Nurse should have established working with doctors, patients, and other hospital administration, compassion with excellent communication skills. A nurse should be skilled enough to communicate both in medical jargon (with doctors) as well as in laymen’s terms (with patients). The nurse should possess strong organizational and management skills as a nurse is responsible for maintaining patient chronicles.

ANM nursing diploma is the most basic course and of the shortest duration, and in thetime being, the students have learned all the distinctions involved with the profession. The objective of  diploma level programme is to train the students as nurses and to assist them in developing skills to function capably in a hospital surroundings and can give first aid, blood pressure monitoring, etc. along with having skills to function effectively in a team, assisting in research activities.
