AFCAT  eligibility criteria for Ground Duty and Flying Branch posts is given below.

(A) Age Limit as per latest update

(i) In Flying Branch Candidate age must be at least 20 years and the maximum age is coated at 24 years for flying branch. maximum age limit for applicants holding legal and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relatable to 26 years.

(ii)Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: For ground duty, the lowest age is 20 years and the upper age limit is coated at 26 years.

Note: Applicants below 25 years of age need to be unmarried at the time of beginning of course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees and also below 25 years age is not eligible. Also Check GFTI FULL FORM .

(B) Educational Qualification

  1. In Flying branch: at least 60% marks both in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a three-year degree in graduation OR a BE/BTECH degree with a minimum of 60% from a known university.
  2. In Ground Duty Branch:

Aeronautical engineering (Electronics) Minimum 60% marks both in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a degree in graduation/post-graduation in the area of engineering and technology from known university.

Indian Air Force will propel call letters to all the applicants who clear the AFCAT/EKT  to perform for the second stage of selection.

Stage 1

It comprises the following two tests:

  1. Officer Intelligence Rating Test.
  2. Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT)

Stage 1 is named screening test and applicants who do not clear it will be excluded and will not be called for AFSB Testing Stage 2.

Stage 2

All Stage 1 qualified applicants will have to appear for AFSB Stage 2 and undertake the following tests:

  1. Psychological Tests: These are the written psychological tests and are lead by specialized psychologists.
  2. Group Tests: These tests include mental and physical activities to examine the applicants’ on several mental and physical parameters.
  3. AFSB Interview:  This round, interviewing officer takes a personal round of interview for the candidate.
  4. Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test: This test is mandatory for solitary those candidates who have applied for the Flying Branch.

AFCAT Medical Examination

Commended candidates will be entitled for the medical examination. The Indian Air force has arranged merely two centres for Medical Examination which are Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru and Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). Next the medical examination, a ultimate merit list would be arranged on the basis of the marks scored by the applicant in written and AFSB Interview. All the qualified candidates would be given the joining letter of the particular training academies they have applied.
