The Institute was established in the year 1984. The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is fourth in the prestigious IIM family of management schools to be established in India after IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Bangalore. The establishment of IIMs was envisioned and initiated by the first Prime Minister of India – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
IIM Lucknow’s main campus spans 200 acres (81 ha) and is in Prabandh Nagar on the outskirts of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located 16 kilometers (9.9 mi) away from Lucknow railway station and 25 kilometers (16 mi) away from Lucknow Airport. IIM Lucknow also has a city office at Aliganj.
IIM-Lucknow’s Noida Campus is spread over 20 acres in Sector-62, NOIDA.
